Knowing and having a fitness goal is the first step to achieving it. However, if your goal is really big, it can be discouraging when you don’t make progress as fast as you’d like. This is why it is important to set short term fitness goals. The benefit of a short term goal is it gives you the reward of accomplishment in a shortened period of time and keeps you motivated to do more. Here are a few things to consider when developing short term fitness goals:

Take it one week at a time: If you have more than 10 pounds to lose, it is going to take time (if you plan to lose weight the healthy way). Keep yourself motivated by taking it one week at a time. At the beginning of each week, commit to your meal plan and exercise program and track your weight loss at the end of each week. Seeing the number on the scale go down or a difference in comparison pictures will keep you inspired to reach the bigger goal.
