Think Like A Man, which was based on Steve Harvey’s best-selling book and stars Michael Ealy, Jerry Ferrara, Meagan Good, Regina Hall and Kevin Hart, was a big favorite with audiences over the weekend, drawing an A CinemaScore grade, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It was a big draw for the male audience, which made up 63 percent. It also drew an older crowd, with 62 percent of the audience being over 30. The film cost Sony’s Screen Gems just $12 million to $13 million to make. It is the second big success for Screen Gems, which also released The Vow in February.

Think Like A Man’s surprising success is being attributed to the marketing of the film. Entertainment Weekly reports that the studio targeted the African American audience through interviews on Harvey’s show, marketing on BET and giving screenings at historically black universities.
